NEW FRONTIER ACTION FUND CALLS FOR FULL ACCOUNTING OF ALL OUTSTANDING BALLOTS
DES MOINES, IA -- The New Frontier Action Fund, a 501c4 social welfare organization focused on pro-justice/progressive policy advocacy, is calling on election officials to fully account for all outstanding ballots.
New Frontier Action Fund President Eddie Mauro, a former Democratic U.S. Senate candidate in Iowa, said, “It is very possible that Vice President Biden will be the next President of the United States, but Americans must demand all votes are counted. We are reminded that Black and Latino voters have faced disenfranchisement in America for our entire history. Now is the time to rise above that history, count the votes, and then bring our country back together after this divisive and hotly contested election. The whole world is watching.”
Vote counting is still underway in critical battleground states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. In addition to these states, counting continues in Georgia, Nevada, and other states with large urban populations that have larger concentrations of African-American and Latino voters.
“President Trump has made it clear he doesn’t care about the votes of Black voters - particularly when they are in states he needs to keep the White House,” said New Frontier Action Fund Executive Director and Iowa-based political consultant Mark Langgin. “The votes that need to be counted were cast days ago, they are following their state laws, and Trump’s rhetoric is anti-democratic and dangerous. Our democracy depends on it. Count every vote,” Langgin added.
New Frontier Fund and No Justice No Peace PAC Director of Partnerships Reverend Rob Johnson said, “I’m going to be doing a lot of praying today - praying for every vote to be counted. Efforts to stop vote counting are nothing less than voter suppression and reminiscent of the Jim Crow era. Millions of Black and Latino voters across Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Georgia are waiting for their votes to be counted, their voices heard. If we hope to avoid the splintering of our country, we must count those votes.”
New Frontier Action Fund and No Justice No Peace PAC are new organizations formed to advance pro-justice and pro-equity public policy, voter engagement, and advocacy for a progressive policy agenda that supports racial, social, economic, and reproductive justice.
